La Fonda de Chalio

Excellent margaritas. I’m assuming they use purified water for the ice cubes because I didn’t get sick. Very friendly service, server helped me translate the menu. The fish tacos were not good. Maybe a little too authentic, not sure, just fish inside a tortilla. Soup beans and my daughter didn’t enjoy her quesadilla. The guacamole and salsa were very good though. I recommend stopping in for drinks and guacamole but skip the meal.

I loved their breakfast! The prices are very good, very economical. I recommend the chilaquiles verdes, and the chocolate milk is to die for! What I didn’t like was the enchiladas suizas. I felt like they put them in the microwave, because the plate was piping hot.

We stopped by for a beer, a pina colada and some fries. A nice place to people watch. There’s access to the beach across the street, as well as a handful of other bars and restaurants close by. We were there around 4pm and it was quiet. A good place to sit and relax or plan your next move. Lots of choices on the menu and it appeared reasonably priced.

I love lafondas. It’s around the corner from my dad’s house- The food is always good. More of a local spot- I LOVE their margaritas and “ocean snacks”. Best spot for a sunset meal or drink. Servers are always so nice too.

La Fonda in Olas Altas, Mazatlán is an absolute gem! The food is incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service is top-notch, with attentive staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. But the real highlight? Sitting right across from the Pacific Ocean, watching the sunset as you enjoy your meal. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with amazing views and delicious food, La Fonda is the place to be! Highly recommend! Sidebar: the margarita's are HUGE and have a ton of alcohol in them lol.

Was fresh and had decent flavor, but nothing special. It's a bit pricey than expected. They gave free chips n salsa for the table, which tasted great.

Food is so so; the shrimp cocktail is not what you think, it’s shrimp in a watery tomato mixture. The guacamole is good but they don’t salt anything so you’ll need to. We had a group of 8, with half eating and the other half w drinks and the bill was $67 or &1204 pesos. Service is attentive and the sidewalk watching is on point. Stop here to use their bathroom and for a coke/beer and pass the time.

I have to say that the food here was exceptional on this busy and noisy Sunday night. We had spicy shrimp ceviche, not super spicy. Main courses: Camarones/shrimp in white sauce, Grilled camarones/shrimp, carne asada burrito and shrimp tacos all were great except the marlin taco was pretty dry. Our server was not as attentive as we would have liked but it was sooo busy you could see he did his best. The sunset view kept us in awe even though loud street music made conversing difficult we will go again as the food and view were definitely worthwhile. Price was really good too!
